Return Party - Theme Changed

As many of you will already be aware, we were originally planning on returning to the Liquid Room with our 14th birthday party- ‘Ladder 14’, and even though we’d accepted the party was probably going to be a little belated as it was unlikely to land on our usual celebratory month, we were saving this ironic & cheeky Fire Brigade theme for the reopening of our famous home, rather than hosting it at another venue.
With work progressing well at the venue we felt confident enough to release the ‘Ladder 14’ teaser flyers and posters at our final party at Faith in December, and again at our ‘January Sail’ at Cabaret Voltaire.
Unfortunately, work at the Victoria Street site was to suffer significant setbacks that would push reconstruction schedules back several months, partly due to the severe weather conditions which affected the whole country during the winter. The biggest effect of this was obviously the ice, snow and freezing temperatures which saw work at the site ground to a halt- further exacerbated by delays in the delivery of vital building materials & components.
As the rebuild schedules began to slip further into the summer, we really had to question the sense in running this theme in the height of summer, particularly as it really didn’t lend itself to the warmer weather, (we know quite a few people have been buying fire brigade outfits on ebay) and we began to have concerns about the effects of heat in such clothing, so the decision was taken to drop the entire concept for something more suited to the time of year (details to be announced soon).
All said and done, we think that most people will agree that we’ve made the right decision, however if you have prepared an outfit for ‘Ladder 14’, don’t worry, we’ll be going ahead with a Fire Brigade theme when we get back into the winter- so those blue & two’s will be back on our radar in a few months time- just watch out for the flyers…
