FantasyLands 2008
12th April
Following on from the success of the FANTASYLANDS WINTER MUSIC- FESTIVAL four months earlier, the crew were all set for making LUVELY'S presence very much felt again at the second outing of this massive event. March the 12th was the date, and just like the previous festival, the whole show would run for a marathon twelve hours, with a capacity crowd of twelve thousand expected. Both Luvely & Fantazia were making their second consecutive appearance; joined this time around by KISSDAFUNK, MUSIKA & representation from the massive TIDY TRAX label- all hosting their very own arenas.
Our chosen theme for the arena was an old favourite amongst the Luvely faithful- 'Building Erection' (rye smile) and the crew had worked on its interior over the last two days to transform it into our classic UV-reactive construction site- complete with our four huge spinning cranes! The boys also installed our custom lighting rigs including half a dozen super bright pixel-lines on top of the standard equipment to make sure our production would make at least as big an impact as our last appearance.
Luckily the gates opened bang on schedule this time, allowing a constant stream of excited revellers to fill event in what seemed to be no time at all. Yet again the Luvely arena was packed to the max & the 'one in for out' policy was again enforced by the stewards. There was once more a show of strength from the Luvely regulars as many in the crowd were sporting yellow workman bibs with the clubs logo painted on them (cheers guys- we knew you wouldn't let the side down!)
There was further good news for the occupants of the arena now dubbed the 'cow-shed' following the problems that had plagued GATECRASHER at the first Fantasylands festival, giving the Tidy Trax crew the best opportunity to make the most of their visit.
A couple of hours into the event and it was becoming patently obvious that we were going to be in for an unseasonably much colder night than the forecasts had predicted (well it is Scotland after all) and with no insulation in any of the arenas with the exception of Kissdafunk's VIP area, it was clear that many of the scantily clad clubbers were going to be in for a hard time. A volunteer was quickly dispatched in a van to collect our Turbo space heater & a huge gas cylinder, and an hour later it was maintaining the warmth already generated by Luvely's huge crowd.
Yet again there was a full complement of our boys behind the decks- including JARED who had clearly enjoyed the last festival enough drag himself back out of his short retirement once more. The lads had the Luvely arena was bouncing in time to the beats- going for broke behind the decks as only they can! As this would be the club's last outing at Fantasylands for the foreseeable future, the Luvely collective were keen to shine as much as possible- and as the night entered its final hours with other arena's quickly emptying, the Luvely arena remained packed right through to the (quite literally) bitter end!
Once again our special thanks goes out to all who supported our arena, and promise to make our return to this fabulous event once again at some point in the future!
